The word "god" does not make Christians/Catholics/Mormons/Muslims etc... beliefs anymore important, anymore sacred or somehow worthy of more protection than my beliefs (or lack thereof) or anyone else's.  The "faithful" need to realize their religion is not above scrutiny just because they claim that they have the market cornered on truth and their religion is inspired by the "one true god".  Nearly every time I point out a gaping hole in people's philosophies their reaction is invariably one of shock and incredulity, they can't believe how narrow minded I am for not blindly accepting their baseless claims. The burden of proof falls on THEM, the person(s) and/or groups making these outrageous assertions, not on me, the person who refuses to blindly accept their lunacy as fact without any actual proof. Furthermore, the fact they continually use the the bible to prove the bible, is also absolutely ridiculous, and logically it doesn't stand up. If you want to make claims about an invisible bearded man in the sky who bends the rules and laws of physics to his will, but only if I psychically convey my belief in his son that was born from a virgin, (deep breath) then thank him for doing something a million Americans have done for FAR less than the salvation of every soul on earth by dying and then COMING BACK TO LIFE! You're going to have to have that Caucasian bearded sky man tell him himself, in person, and I'm going to need about 10,000 witnesses with me to make sure it's not a hallucination. The amount of arrogance and ignorance it takes to sustain delusions as insane as these is frankly unfathomable. These people disgust me, I am f*cking furious!  When will we finally be able to convey the fact that the high school dropout standing in the pulpit every Sunday, who went on to a bible college where he was brainwashed and indoctrinated by people just as ignorant he is does not in fact know anything about anything.  Or the opposite may be true, what about the Harvard Divinity School graduate with an MBA that's running the mega-church down the block, who speaks about the joys of "giving" every other Sunday.  Do you really think those people can be trusted?  The same people that tortured, murdered and enslaved MILLIONS of people over the centuries and continue to oppress women and spout ignorant hatred towards gays and other groups the bible mentions in passing in half a verse somewhere.
Our nation is in serious trouble is we don' do something to stop these imbeciles!

Take heart Jay. I have a work mate who has been over the top for Jesus for the entire 8 years that I,ve known him. He has a Men's Devotional bible in his tool box full of post it notes and yellow highlighted passages. He belongs to a small church that is on the grow and he started noticing over the past year that the young pastor of this church has a pretty good life style going. Nice house , car , motorcycle ect. One of the other guys at work asked him about the last time he had been to church. He said it had been about 2 months ago. He said the pastor went on a rant about how the church members had better step up to the plate with their obligations (money) or give up their seat at church. He said

" I gave up my seat."  We were discussing this story when I decided to tell how when I was a little boy in Catholic school they gave us numbered envelopes with our names on them  so they could track our Sunday offerings. He cut in and asked " Do you know what they call that?" I said no. He said " A SCAM!"

There is some hope for change. Keep the non-faith.
