In GOD we trust....Really?

I know that it is on our money and other things in the nation but I have found some rather convincing evidence that states otherwise..."GOD" is relative.

The Founding Fathers were a group of well-educated men who led America in the early stages of her history. These men risked their lives for our freedom. This began with achieving independence of the thirteen colonies from England, and continued on with the formation of a government for the new nation once the Revolutionary War had been won.

However, these are some quotes from our founding fathers that may surprise you...

John Adams (1735-1826) - 2nd President of the United States

" As the government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion ...." (What we are not a christian nation after all???!!!)

"As I understand the Christian religion, it was, and is, a revelation. But how has it happened that millions of fables, tales, legends, have been blended with both Jewish and Christian revelation that have made them the most bloody religion that has ever existed?" (Religion kills people.)

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) - American scientist, diplomet, writer.

"I wish it (Christianity) were more productive of good works ... not holy day keeping, sermon hearing ... of making long prayers, filled with flatteries and compliments despised by wise men, and much less capable of pleasing Deity." (Slam!)

"If we look back into history for the character of the present sects of Christianity, we shall find few that have not in turns been persecutors, and complainers of persecution. The primitive Christians thought persecution extremely wrong in Pagans, but practiced it on one another. The first Protestants of the Church of England blamed persecution in the Romish church, but practiced it on the Puritans. They found it wrong in Bishops, but fell into the practice both here (England) and in New England." (SLLLLAAAAMMMMMM!)

Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) - 3rd President of the United States

"Is uniformity attainable? Millions of innocent men, women, and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined, imprisioned ; yet we have not advanced on inch towards uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one half the world fools, and the other half hypocrites. To support roguery and error all over the earth." (OUCH!)

James Madison (1751-1836) - 4th President of the United States

"Who does not see that the same authority which can establish Christianity in exclusion of all other religions may establish, with the same ease, any particular sect of Christians in exclusion to all other sects? In the Papal System, Government and religion are in a manner consolidated, and that is found to be the worst of Government." (Religion makes gov worse...)

Basically what I am getting at is.....Why do we teach bible in some schools but we don't teach other religions such as Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, or Judaism?????

Not that I need to...But I want a beer on Sunday before what ever time I am entitled because I am a free American man. Why do we have hundreds of channels on T.V. that display religious fundamentalism like televangelism and even some of the news stations...BUT I get 3 science channels?!?!?!!?!?!

All this stuff I have mentioned are just some of the ways I don't have my God Damn freedom of religion because all this shit is federally regulated...(aside from the beer thing) So our founding fathers are rolling over in their graves already and this put icing on the cake.

EXACTLY.....You dog is real, can't really say that about the other. The founding fathers of our country would be pissed and if they were still around we wouldn't be in the mess that we are today.

I've always really admired Jefferson and the other founders of this nation. Despite the evidence contrary, it never ceases to amaze me when theists try to claim that the founders were all big time christians. Per usual, they lack proof but not ignorance. What this country needs is more people like troughs that founded this nation. Were they here to see what this country has become, they would be less than amused.

Meh. I say we leave 'In God we trust" on money. I mean, money is filthy. It's a nice relationship in my mind.
Until our country is educated enough to get 'god' out of our governments and schools, let it hang there as a reminder of how much further we have to go.
