The most generous reading I can give to that saying is that it is confounding the belief in something with the subject of belief. In the sense that it is true that if there were no concept of god, there would be no atheists.

OTOH, even that would not be true by our understanding of the definition of atheist (without belief in a god). No matter how you interpret the phrase, anyone that finds that profound is probably too stupid to use reason.

The statement doesn't stand up to logic. It isn't worth the electronic paper it's written on.

Either God exists or doesn't.

Whether god (any god) exists or not, I am still an atheist, and I certainly do exist, as do many others as is proven here.

If god does exist, then we are all wrong, but we are still atheists, just awaiting proof. Otherwise, we are right, and will continue to be atheists, defiant in the face of the continuing bullshit.

I'm still waiting.
