I Want a Fucking Burger With My Atheism

Here I am, living in, (supposedly), the land of the free. I pay my taxes, support my community, take care of my family, live a fairly ethical, (best I can), life. Not killing, pillaging or raping. Whether I personally think your views suck, I understand your right to suck as much as you wish. I am, if you have a wide definition of the term, a damn nice guy. So why can't I get a damn hamburger with my Atheism?

When I first ventured into organized Atheism, (what an oxymoron that thought is), I noticed the venues tended to be Chinese restaurants. I am not saying always, just mostly. Apparently in the fine metropolis of Detroit, the only places atheists can meet is the local Denny's for breakfast, or a Chinese buffet for dinner. What the fuck?

Maybe I want a damn pizza, are all the pizza places Catholic? Love middle eastern food. Now, I don't want to start a Jihad, I'm just saying some tabbouleh and hummus, maybe some baba ganoush would be kind of nice. If I want some pulled pork am I aggravating southern Baptists?

For around five years I have been associated with the local atheist community. I have always been an atheist, just never really talked about it. I was slightly shocked, (like in shell), to realize that not everyone thought the same. Did not realize how many closet theists existed and exist, until W. was elected. Holy shit! I always thought I was in the majority! All of a sudden everyone is so pious. At work, prayer breakfasts posted on the facility message boards, Bibles in evidence and pretending to be read. Talk about culture shock. But I digress.

Back to burgers. I am in Michigan; that's obvious. I sometimes attend the MMAH monthly meetings. I enjoy the meetings, but I am so tired of Chinese buffets. If one Chinese place isn't working out for us, there's always another. I like the food and make excellent Chinese dishes myself, but why is this the only choice? I live in a country that is so bitchingly diversified that all the colors have run to gray. In some states men can marry men and women can marry women. Great, I don't give a shit.

All I want is a fucking burger with my Atheism.
