Good point, wear a turtleneck with a reinforced neck. That will freak them out when they try to hang you.

They will treat you different when they find out, especially if they don't know you that well. I was there for a while and they were horrible after it, but I comfronted them n i guess they felt guilty for doin it, so they were better :)

I would advise against being a deceitful person for any reason other than to protect yourself or others against harm.
Trust is hard to gain, and rightfully so, even harder to recover when lost through deceit.

if they agree to let you then its good.
if they dont then dont push it over.

if you have some questions about their beliefs ask them.

Too many variables in your experiment, would you being an atheist or gaining their trust and breaking it result in restricitve behavior towards you? you might want to test multiple churches and test only one variable at a time. So go to a month or so with church A and announce you are an atheist, and in the other announce you are an atheist upfront and get their reactions after one month. You would also need a control experiment where you do absolutely nothing in regards to atheism. You could make a documentary about this, but get a solid procedure to test each method and then plan to do a test run of each! Interesting idea, I have no problems with it.
