I don't think any single one of us is ignorant as to who VenomFangX is. Indeed, we all know that name.

I first became part of the whole online atheist community after VFX's second(?) goodbye. In fact, for most of my time on YouTube, VFX was not there... somebody else was manning his account. The first time VFX was active during my time was quite recently. He made all of two or three videos before going away again.

The saga of VenomFangX is an interesting one to me. I've always said, if I hadn't already decided to be a musician and record producer, I'd be a psychologist, and my area of study would be Young Earth Creationists. I have always wondered at the mindset... the mindset both of the "leaders" and the followers. And, sometimes, I think, after getting my music business degree, I'll go back to school for a degree in psychology, and work on a book about such a mindset, really delving deep into the psychology of such a brain that can actually think like this.

And VFX would have made a hell of a case study.

But now...

But now, things have changed...

So this is what we can expect? It makes me sad. It makes me so incredibly sad. Is this the fruit of Kent Hovind's labor?

Is the implicit message that Sean is a bipolar?

@Doug

I'm not sure. He is, without a doubt, brainwashed, and severely misguided. Now we know that something is wrong.

Jeff, He's also known as PCS, or Posterboy for Creationist Stupidity. I'd say check out his channel, but he's closed it down for the third time...

Did I understand him correctly that they 'kicked' VFX out of the house for his beliefs???? I think it sucks if thats true.

a7, they had no choice. VFX was breaking the law, as well as committing perjury. Something had to be done.

Wesley, first off, VFX is (I think) 25. He had to get out sometime. And they were still financially supporting him. It sounds like his views just clashed too much with the rest of the family. He probably tried to convert them every single day.

I have to agree with a7 here. There's LOTS of religious nutjobs out there (including many "young earth creationists"). Nobody is running around telling their parents on them and no other dads are forcing their adult son to get off youtube. VFX is a gigantic idiot douchebag, but he has a right to speak his mind and be heard by any who are willing to listen. I couldn't disagree with someone's religious views more than I disagree with VFX, but FAR WORSE than his religious views is the idea that he's forbidden from expressing them, especially if he's forbidden by people who claim to love him.

I am, frankly, disgusted by this whole thing.

VFX commited a crime and was about to get sued. I didnt hear about any of this unill he kicked off for the second time (i think). I also think that this guy is just sad and misguided. He will have a poor life untill he can screw his head on right. I wish him the best of luck, but some people are just REALLY bad off and I hold little hope for them, him included.
Comment by Nathan Hevenstone on January 26, 2010 at 10:39pm
@Galen, like I said to a7, VFX committed crimes. Not only did he commit perjury (accuses DPR Jones of being a pedophile), but he filed enough false DMCA claims to land him in jail for a long time. What were they supposed to do... let him continue breaking the law?

Since I've worked in the mental health field for 35 years, I guess I tend to look for Mental Illness any time people behave in irrational ways. Now, if they come from impoverished backgrounds with little education, there is greater leeway, and irrational behavior may just be a cultural thing. But when someone comes from a typical middle class background and acts out in ways that are "over the top" of what is considered normal behavior, I tend to expect to find one of the mental illnesses existing in that individual. Now, I have no reason, other than experience, to think that VFX is probably so blessed, but that would be something I would try to rule out before passing judgement on whether or not he is just a jerk and general asshole.

@Nathan - No, they're supposed to let the authorities do their job. He committed a crime? Ok. If I commit a crime, it's really not any of my parents' business. VFX is a grown man, not a little boy. Mommy and Daddy need to cut the apron strings and LET HIM sit in a jail cell for a while.
