I actually used to think that atheists had no reason to live if there was no god(s). I used to wonder, "How do they derive any meaning from their lives, when it's so short and is given no meaning?" But I think that the good thing about being a freethinker, atheist, naturalist, or any way you'd like to describe yourself is that you can give yourself and your own life whatever meaning you want! Life is all YOURS and not the property of some god. You are literally free to do whatever you want (provided you have the necessary funds and it's reasonable). That fills me with more excitement than a life with a pre-planned purpose ever did!
