I Don’t Care What Your Delusion Is, I’m Not Obligated To Share It (A Reposting)

I saw this recently on another board and thought it deserved a wider airing:

I Don’t Care What Your Delusion Is, I’m Not Obligated To Share It

The earth revolves around the sun.
The earth is billions, not thousands of years old.
Fox News is neither fair, nor balanced - nor news.
Evolution happened and is happening.
Torture does not work.
Bush did not keep us safe.
Markets do not regulate themselves.
Fascism is not the same as socialism.
The world was not with us with regards to the Iraq War.
Iraq never attacked us and was never a threat.
Trickle-down economics is extremely insulting on its face. More so if examined.
Obama is not a socialist, or a communist.
A weak public option for a fraction of the country does not spell doom.
Prayers in school did not avert any wrong doings. Nor are prayers prohibited now.
There is no correlation between religiosity and morality.
The world can be and is over-populated.
Supply-side economics makes no sense, period.
Lying to soldiers about why they are fighting is not equivalent to support.
Supporting any war for any reason is not equivalent to patriotism.
Tax cuts for the rich are not a fix-all. In fact they hurt after a certain point.
Gays are not asking for special rights. They are asking for human rights.
An economist from Exxon does not equal the entire peer reviewed data from the world’s climatologists.
We really don’t have the #1 healthcare system in the world, and pretending we do only hurts our chances of improvement.
The fact is, now there really is a Northwest Passage for the first time in human history.
Intelligent Design is creationism in a dress. Un-burying her and dressing her up does not make her smell any better.

Facts are facts and do not have an ideology. Pretending that an impassioned denial is equal to established facts is extremely harmful. And the number of people sharing your particular delusion is irrelevant to its status as a fact.

so I thought as I read your post, what the @&%$ is the poster trying to put across..
Firstly I must stress that we atheists are here under the umbrella of one common belief and that's the disbelief of god or gods. You can tell nothing else about that person unless you have added information.

As individuals we have other views and opinions outside the label of atheisim, so please try and understand were I am coming from as I go through your post.

1. Torture does not work, Iam pasting part of an article the link is provided.

Truth is, it's surprisingly hard to get anything under torture, true or false. For example, between 1500 and 1750, French prosecutors tried to torture confessions out of 785 individuals. Torture was legal back then, and the records document such practices as the bone-crushing use of splints, pumping stomachs with water until they swelled and pouring boiling oil on the feet. But the number of prisoners who said anything was low, from 3 percent in Paris to 14 percent in Toulouse (an exceptional high). Most of the time, the torturers were unable to get any statement whatsoever.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/12/13/AR2... I will add that I read the full article and it does appear that Torture does indeed give poor results, however I must add and I am passionate about this.
Torture must be allowed as a last resort, we must be allowed to use the any method of torture when we have a chance of saving innocent lifes.

2. The world was not with us re: the iraq war. This was down to liberal world politics

3.Iraq never attacked us and was never really a threat. Your right, Iraqdid not pose a direct military threat to the US or my own country UK, however I am sure you are aware that not all threats are in military ones.
the western world but especially the United states and the uk need the oil just to sustain our way of life in the future. We can say that Iraq was a direct threat to it's neighbours, we only have to look back to its invasion of Kuwait. Saddam and his buddies had to go. It took an invasion based on lies, however the invasion was needed to secure the transport of oil.

4. lying to the soldiers, please give the men and women serving their countries some credit, they knew exactly what they were fighting for and have done a dam fine job. They knew the politicains were playing games with words, all there knew exactly what the fight was about.

5 Facts are facts and do not have an ideology, Come on then , keep it to facts and less opinion. I have lots of opinions and I spout them passionately. I am not saying we cant spout our opinions, just that I know of a few , who would state the fact that the post was nothing but liberal dogma.

I'll stop babbling on now.
