Thanks for all the replys whether they were nice or not :) first I would like to address the fact that 1 of you said you dont need my sympathy. Well you dont have my sympathy. Im not saying that as if I was angry or spiteful; it is only true. Me having love for you is not out of sympathy it is out of my heart. If having love for someone can only come out of sympathy... well that breaks my heart. Anyways to the next thing. someone said I should show that I can listen before I start talking... well I am most willing to listen. I am in the middle of listening to someone at this very moment.... so I am prepared for everything :) i would love to hear more from you guys.

Peace & Love

Travis, thanks for the love. though i also reject the idea that you could love everyone as much as your own mother because to do so either redefines love as something less than what we currently define it as or indicates to me that you don't love your mother very much. regardless, i appreciate the sentiment.

what i am interested in, and what i think is important to discuss, is what you believe in and why. what's your idea of god? what are his attributes as you believe them to be? why do you believe as you do? i'd ask you to fulfill your obligation under 1 Peter 3:15. i'm looking for evidence that validates your beliefs. see, i care about truth. i want to have as many true beliefs as possible and as few false beliefs as possible. not only because such a desire is intellectually honest but also because our beliefs inform our actions. bad beliefs inform bad actions while good beliefs inform good actions. if a belief is unevidenced then it can not be defended on reasonable and logical grounds. such a belief is by definition illogical and unreasonable. a belief held in spite of this is a dangerous belief because the person holding it does so for no reason, they aren't amenable to argument, they refuse to consider evidence to the contrary, yet they still continue to assert the truth of their belief.

so let's put the pseudo-spirituality summer of love flower power Haight-Ashbury magic bus stuff aside and let's talk about what you believe and why.

i very much look forward to reading your response and i'm glad you're here and willing to discuss things.

Travis,
First off, I'd like to say hi! Welcome to the site.
Secondly, I'd like to make the suggestion that you change your profile picture because it might confuse some people. I've got a few posted from my albums of landscapes or animals or such that you are welcome to use if you don't have anything. (Just nothing with me in them, please. That could REALLY confuse people :)
I'm sure you are overloaded with mail right now. Very few brave folk are willing to stand up in a place where they are the far minority. Congratulations. When you get time, I'd love a chance to chat! Please feel free to add me as a friend and drop me an email when you are available.
