I celebrate Christmas...because I love the beauty of a tree covered in lights.

We give out presents because we receive them from others. 

To me, Christmas is not even a Christian holiday, as they commandeered it from pagans in the first place. I don't really take the religious symbolism seriously...and I most certainly don't go to church or listen to religious natured music during that time. 

I don't really celebrate any other religious natured holidays. I observe things like earth day and such though.

Hi Ruby , just joined and really love to find a site with people who are not insane aka, religious , as far as holidays go I celebrate every holiday that I like the meaning of the holiday to me is what I decide it is.

Both Christmas and Easter pre-date Christianity anyway so you shouldn't have any problem with celebrating. Christmas and Easter have always been secular affairs for me, and they always will be. In my experience they have both been much more about family than religion, especially Christmas.

Pressure from dear ole Mom and wanting to make her happy prods me to participate at Xmas. Otherwise I can do w/o all the commercialization.

Very interesting. I had no idea that christmas and easter predate christianity, and I agree with you Alex and George holidays are all about spending time with family.
