Has a believer ever told you "We are living in the last days and times" ?

I'm in my 20's and I've been hearing this since I was 5yrs. old, especially from older people. What exactly does that mean and what kind of response is a statement like that suppose to draw?

I have a friend who has been saying that the UK is on the verge of a revolution (and I mean about to happen tomorrow) for at least 20 years. I suppose these people are able to convince themselves that the things which were vaguely mentioned in the bible have now all happened and we're due for the second coming of Christ, zombies (which does actually sound pretty good) and God finally getting it together and giving us some concrete evidence of his existence. The fact that they've been saying it for hundreds of years and it hasn't happened doesn't apparently give them much pause for thought.

I think your best bet is to back away slowly and try to put some distance between you and them.

By the way, there is a service for Christians, run by Certified Blasphemers (!), which will look after their pet if JC comes back and they have to go to be judged. The FAQ says "Each of our representatives has stated to us in writing that they are atheists, do not believe in God / Jesus, and that they have blasphemed in accordance with Mark 3:29, negating any chance of salvation.", so they won't be required at the 2nd coming.

These people need delusion so badly that in order to cover up the fact that their Jesus hasn't returned in 2010 years they saw its gonna be any day now which gives them a sick kind of comfort knowing there's going to be an Armageddon which kill most of the population but will end with a Global Christian Government where Jesus is dictator and if you don't bow down you will be tortured and/or killed. No more troublesome elections either, Jesus is in charge and to be obeyed. This is their worldly longing and comfort. They love this concept so much they call it Heaven on Earth, where everyone agrees with Jesus or dies.

People who believe in an imminent second coming seem to have an emotional need to be the star (a tragic hero!) of their own disaster movie.

When I think of all the prognostications that seers, psychics, and religious fanatics have made in my lifetime and how absolutely none of them have come to pass, it really makes me wonder about the credulity and gullibility of the human race.

"it really makes me wonder about the credulity and gullibility of the human race."

It's akin to a rat pressing the button that gives it an electric shock, thinking the next time will be different and the button will give it food.
