My dear mother thinks our country (United States) while losing it's traditions is somehow also losing what makes America great. I told her many traditions are founded on erroneous information and even fallacious. She doesn't like the fact that some individuals making an appearance in court to testify don't always place their hand on the bible. Why would someone feel inclined to believe that a book would somehow compel an individual to actually tell the gospel truth? It's a ludicrous notion and a fine example of the gullibility of our society. Of course that did not sit well with her. Or reminding her that our Constitution demands there be no respect to a particular religion.
