Governor Christie Bans Gay Conversion Therapy For Minors

I believe Christie's legislation is the first of it's type passed in the U.S. I am sure many New Jersey teens are breathing a welcome sigh of relief. Conversion therapy needs to go on the dusty shelf right next to shock treatments.

Totally agreed , Ed . I believe however that California was first to ban this religion based idiocy , responsible for causing so much suffering to teens. Hopefully more states will follow suit .

Shock treatments are actually effective sometimes when nothing else will work. It is generally described as "flipping a switch" in one's brain. I've had two grandmothers undergo the treatment, and they needed it. I don't think you really know what you're talking about in that regard.

Michelle Bachman's not gonna like that!

Futile - I had an ex-mother-in-law who underwent electroshock as well, she was batshit crazy when she went in, and batshit crazy when she came out - hope your grannies fared better.

@futilethewinds

My recollection of the use of the shock treatment is similar to what was portrayed in 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.' In the 1940's/50's it was misused in psychiatric hospitals. Perhaps today they have a better understanding of it's application.
