Creationism is getting to be a bigger and bigger problem in UK education. Whilst the US evangelical movement haven't managed to export it here very effectively, please just note that a very large portion of the Muslim world, including Muslim schools in the UK, believe and teach creationism. It's an educational tragedy. I'm a PhD in chemistry and I've met people all the way across the system, from school kids to graduate students to postdocs to university professors who advocate creationism. They are in the minority by a long mile, but the problem is not negligible.

Those of you who are interested in learning more might be interested in this short clip of Richard Dawkins interviewing school children from a Muslim school in the UK and how it affects their understanding of science. (This in a school that supposedly does teach evolution, the problem being that they are made to understand that the Koran trumps anything science has to say.)
