I don't usually watch the Golden Globe Awards, but I caught Ricky Gervais's comment at the end.  It was great!

"Thank God for making me an Atheist".  I thought there would be a comment on the news about this, but there was not.

This is something I read on line, Ricky Gervais said;

"Why don’t I believe in God? No, no no, why do YOU believe in God? Surely the burden of proof is on the believer. You started all this. If I came up to you and said, “Why don’t you believe I can fly?” You’d say, “Why would I?” I’d reply, “Because it’s a matter of faith.” If I then said, “Prove I can’t fly. Prove I can’t fly see, see, you can’t prove it can you?” You’d probably either walk away, call security or throw me out of the window and shout, ‘’F—ing fly then you lunatic.”

i dont know. it was out of context for the event. i hate whe celebs use those events for their own agenda and that was a little of that. I love gerrvais but i was disaappointed in the whole thing. it was boring.

Gervais is pure gold. Honestly, he is one of my favourite comedians.

I love Ricky! And, it's just a bonus that he's an atheist. I especially liked his comment about thanking god for making him an atheist because you just watched 3 hours of self-righteous actors, directors, etc. thanking god for their "talent" and for getting them an award, which is completely asinine yet customary nowadays. People forget that he's a COMEDIAN, and he literally makes a living by making fun of people. Most of these actors and tv personalities who complain about him are so pompous that they refuse to understand that it's all in good fun and they're the ones giving it negative implications by taking it personally and/or literally. He has a really good dialogue about this at the end of his latest HBO special Out of England 2 (which I highly recommend because it's absolutely hilarious).

Well, apparently, his other stuff was so obnoxious, nobody even noticed the atheist comment.  Now that's funny.

Zero evidence of existence of god, that's enough for me. Zero evidence takes me past subjective on any topic. A simple shred, a mere smidgeon of evidence would create a possible subjectivity, but there isn't.

Atheist jokes are about the only thing I like about Ricky, his Nazi-Mel Gibson joke was awesome too.
