It's that time, folks!
Car is packed, Playlists are loaded. Life is good.
We are taking a three days and two nights to make the drive. It will be
Colin's first Great American Road Trip and I want to spend some time in
the Big Sur area eating at mom and pop seafood restaurants and taking
pictures!

We went to Tombstone for a haunted night time tour! It was great fun. I
had the most delicious buffalo burger at the Crystal Palace (service was
slow, though) and it was pretty decently priced, too.
Ramsay was in his service-dog-in-training-vest and did well. It was
cold, but he didn't fuss too much. There wasn't any odd behavior that
would suggest paranormal activity near us, heh.
We met some cool people, and I got invited to spend Halloween night on
Alcatraz with a ghost hunting team! Think I should go to represent the
skeptic side? Maybe wear some of my TA bling? Present our colors? Throw
some gang signs?

The U.S has been so much fun, I think Colin is starting to get a little
too comfortable. Not sure what I'll do if he decides that we should
stay.....

Anyway, if I'm not around much this week, y'all will know why.I'm sure
some of the hotels will have wifi, but we might be out and about.

Play nice while I'm gone!
Don't tell any strangers you are home alone.
Don't throw any wild keggers.

Sweet! Have fun! I haven't been in Big Sur in 3 years. I'm flying to Cali next month to use the synchrotron at Stanford for our research, but I don't think I'm going to have any time to travel :(

Have fun! Halloween night in Alcatraz with a ghost hunting team sounds amazing; I love getting in situations that elicit suggestive illusions. I think that it's a really interesting experience to see the patterns that our minds will create under duress. I guess that is why I like watching horror movies alone in the dark, lol. Of course, if it's a tangible enemy like a serial killer, then I'm totally screwed because I can't complete exclude the possibility that the crunching of leaves outside my window is not a deranged axe-bearing lunatic. (Note to self: Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a lot more frightening after you move to central Texas.)

Speaking of Texas, if Colin seems to be getting too comfortable in the US, I totally recommend a jaunt through the deep south. A few days among people who celebrate Robert E. Lee's birthday on Martin Luther King day should help to combat any amity towards America at large. (Seriously, a woman in my office did that this year because Lee's bday happened to fall on MLK day. Sadly, the entire office cheered her on in honoring the Confederate hero over one of "those people." Sigh.)
