I watched the clip of Giuliana Rancic announcing that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. I seriously facepalmed at the end of it. I have heard of her, but I don’t really follow her too much. I know she hosts a show on the E network and her husband and her have a reality. Apparently, the reality shows has a lot to do with her getting pregnant and getting IVF treatments. It’s been really hard for her to get pregnant and she has had miscarriages and stuff. I guess during the IVF process a doctor made her get a mammogram. At the end of the interview. She said she would ask god why she couldn’t get pregnant and all that happy crap, but now she knows. If she gets pregnant it will cause the cancer to grow/spread rapidly because of hormones.
Basically, she said god didn’t give her a baby, so she would undergo the IVF and find the cancer or something. I just don’t get it. God didn’t give her a baby so she could find the cancer god gave her and thank god? And it’s important that she was given cancer because she can help make other women aware and take the steps to get screened and to catch it early. So thank god, god gave her cancer to help other people get screened and treatment that god also gave cancer to. Are you kidding me? That is some *ucked up logic. Having a “relationship” with god must be like Stockholm Syndrome.
I think it's great she is getting out there and speaking about it. She is brave and it must be really hard to do. If they whole god thing makes sense to her, and brings her comfort through this difficult time, then good for her. I'm just...in awe. I don't even think my 6 year old could follow that logic. It's equivalent to "I'm so thankful my boyfriend beat me and I had to go to the hospital. At the hospital I got a great night sleep. One that I would not have gotten if I was at home because my boyfriend is abusive. I'm so thankful for my boyfriend"
I do not have an abusive boyfriend. That's just an example. I just don't get.
The Lord works in mysterious ways, his wonders to behold!
But if you do have trouble sleeping, it's nice to know that you can pray on it, and god will reward you with an abusive boyfriend to put you in the hospital, thereby giving you a well-earned rest. And, of course, the opportunity to pray for more fun stuff.
I hope the TV personality above gets through this--no one deserves breast cancer. But maybe she'll find some sense during what will hopefully be a successful recovery, and share that with the world, instead of telling us what a nice sort of terrorist her god is, not like those other terrorists at those other houses of worship.
The Human Brain, isn't it a wondrous thing! It's absolutely amazing what we can make ourselves believe and thankfully "NOT" believe.
I am with you...you are glad that a fairy tale gave you cancer? What? I did the same thing...just shook my head and face palmed! It makes no sense..its called coincidence people.
The logic is that she would have gotten the cancer no matter what, because crap things happen in life. So she is thankful that she didn't get pregnant, because if she had, life would have been way more complicated, having cancer and being pregnant at the same time. In her mind, God was saving her a lot of heartache and trouble (and possibly a baby with mental/physical problems, or having to deal with a miscarriage). In her mind, God was taking care of her by not letting her get pregnant. Because the cancer was there, whether she liked it or not. She doesn't think God gave her cancer, but allowed it to happen for some reason. Christians believe that God lets them go through trials in order to learn or be an example for others....really, it's all part of the greater good.
I dunno, I guess I can see where she's coming from because I used to have the same frame of mind. But I can see how it would be confusing if you've never believed it.
So God, who could eradicate cancer any time if he wanted to, chooses to give 1 woman cancer so she can make other women aware who will then need to rely on the medical community. If that's the case, God is either a sick bastard or really stupid.
