Comment by Dustin on January 15, 2011 at 11:28pm If they made that remark about science those people are completely lost to reality. Any 'evidence' you put forth regarding the molestations and rape will be disregarded.
What they are doing is making a conclusion (The Pope is great) , therefore anything that refutes that conclusion is by necessity invalid. It's how creationists work and also how many religious work.
Ironic that they would ever say anything so insane about science when they have not a clue what proof actually means. *Facepalm*

Comment by Kenneth Montville D.D. on January 16, 2011 at 7:58am They sound more like evangelical Protestants than Catholics. Tell them that they are morons if they believe in ID or biblical creationism because Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI have both spoken out to say that biological evolution by means of natural selection is how life started and that Genesis is just a story, written by people who didn't understand science.
Second, and I may butcher this as I am a student of social sciences and not hard sciences, rotation in space is caused by vectoring angles. Gravitation caused by larger bodies creates a pull on smaller ones which may be moving in different directions. In the accretion discs of solar systems most everything starts moving in the same direction and thus begins to have orbits in the same direction due to gravity caused by high mass at the center where the star will form.
