This is a found poem (for those who don't know, it's basically a literary collage) made up of text from Inherit The Wind by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, select Stephen Crane poetry, and there's a bit of To Build a Fire by Jack London in there too. Obviously, my poetic skills leave something to be desired, but it's the message that's more important. I hope someone enjoys it.

God speaks to you.

I object. That is preposterous.

Every word that’s written in this book should be taken literally,

I object.

The bible satisfies, it is enough,

I object, I object, I object.

I saw a man pursuing his religion; leaving black terror,

I object. Religion’s supposed to comfort people, isn’t it?

And the virtue of slaughter,

I object.

And a field where a thousand corpses lie.

I object, I object, I object.

Sex is sin,

I object. It is a matter of instinct.

That rock is not more than six thousand years old.

I object.

The World was created in seven days.

I object, I object, I object.

And yet I could look beyond all this,

To a place of infinite beauty.

The earth,

 Moving around the sun.

Then came again,

The scent of death

And religion.

The story of an atheist.

Once in a while the thought reiterated itself.

The story of an atheist,

Is futile,

When faith is the important thing

And the right to think is on trial.

Thanks for reading! If anyone has some minor suggestions (or grammatical editing!) they would be appreciated!
