I'm planning on going to Reason Rally this year. It'll be nice to be around like minded people, if a group of Atheists, Agnostics, Freethinkers, etc can ever be called like minded, for a change.

I love my friends dearly, but some of the believers among them just don't get me. I've seen some openly call Secular people fools for not believing in their personal beliefs. When politely confronted, they usually either go nuclear at me or delete me from their friends only to add me back a few days later.

One can only assume that their reasoning behind adding back is that I've become the ever elusive conversion goal. I certainly hope not. I can't stand proselytizing. I sometimes wonder why they're even my friends at all when they're so adamantly against Atheists, especially considering I am an Atheist. It's just weird to me.

So, for Reason Rally, I'm planning well in advance. About the only thing that will get in the way of my going that day is the weather taking an unexpected bad turn. I even have someone who, barring other plans, is willing to go with me. Hopefully, the Agoraphobia won't get in the way of this at all. I mean, that is what the advanced planning is all about.

I know other members of TA have attended in the past and a few that intend to go this year too. I will setup an event page where arrangements can be discussed and a "meetup" arranged if anyone is interested.

We have had plenty of debates and posts on how to deal with friends and family that proselytize so if you have any questions about dealing with them please ask. Theists can have strange reactions to those that do not believe what they believe. You are not denying the existence of their god, you just don't believe it.

Welcome to TA.

Thank you for commenting, Reg. :)

Your idea of a meetup sounds great. I'll keep an eye out for the event creation.

When the proselytizing comes up again, I'll definitely seek the advice of the wise people of TA.

Thank you for the welcome. It's great here. :)

Here is an Event Page if anyone is interested. I meet up with likeminded people (serious atheist and secular activists) every month. It keeps me sane....though that is only my subjective opinion :-)

Thanks, Reg!

Gardening is what usually keeps me sane. I need to get out more and meet non-photosynthetic lifeforms. :)

Many religionists are potted plants.
