I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Michael. Pleased to meet you. I'm an atheist. I get judged for that fact, but my true friends don't bring it up and don't harass me. I've been victim to of blackmail because of it. Fortunately, it did no real damage to myself. I don't let many things bother me, because I know I have only a few brief moments on the sun before I perish. However, I do not fear death. Death is of no consequence to me. The only thing that matters is that I live a good life. I enjoy helping people. It's my one true goal in life. To leave a positive influence on every single person I meet. Also, I relish learning. My love of learning is only matched by my love of helping people. I go to school everyday thinking positively and leave changed everyday. I look at my peers and their dislike for learning and I don't understand it. Why would someone choose to remain ignorant. It is one of the few things that truly get me mad. I want to yell at these people to enjoy this unique opportunity that we have, that few others have, and learn as much as they can. Hopefully my later posts won't be quite so boring and serious, so I must end on my favorite quote of all time. Here you go and talk to you soon. :)

“Recognize that the very molecules that make up your body, the atoms that construct the molecules, are traceable to the crucibles that were once the centers of high mass stars that exploded their chemically rich guts into the galaxy, enriching pristine gas clouds with the chemistry of life. So that we are all connected to each other biologically, to the earth chemically and to the rest of the universe atomically. That’s kinda cool! That makes me smile and I actually feel quite large at the end of that. It’s not that we are better than the universe, we are part of the universe. We are in the universe and the universe is in us.”

Michael welcome! I love your attitude for life and love of learning. Don't worry about those who are not interested. They are no better or worse then you, just on a different journey. The end conclusions will be the same, it just may take some people longer to get there. Anyway, welcome again.

What a great first blog!  I have been kicking around the idea of starting a blog, but have been hesitant because I don't even like to keep a journal, lol!  However, since coming to the realizations that I have, in regards to people and their beliefs in mythology (and these effects on human civilization), I've been thinking about blogging.  In fact, I don't usually read blogs, except sporadically, but after looking at a few of them, it seems like it might be kind of fun!  Yours caught my eye because its your first blog, and I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed reading it.  Especially since you included my favorite quote from one of the great minds of our time, Neil deGrasse Tyson!   That is my all time favorite quote!

I totally agree with you about those that choose to remain ignorant.  I am finding that I have great disdain for those who believe in mythology. For me, figuring out that mythology was just that....  Mythology.  It lifted a great deal of weight off my shoulders, and I don't understand how in the "hell" I *ever* believed any of it in the first place, lol!  Amazing, eh?

Anyway, great first blog, and thank you for the inspiration!

Thank for all the kind words Heather! I was kind of nervous posting this, and quite frankly thought no one would even see this! Glad I could touch you in this way. I look forward to reading a blog written by you :)

Thank you!  Sorry it took me so long to get back to you; I've been crazy-busy this last week!  :-)

I've always been a little self-conscious about writing my thoughts down for others to see, and to do this almost feels like speaking in public, ya know?  I'm going to try and start one this week.... :-O
