@Davis, yep, just DO it. But have a look through sites that explain how to do it thoroughly. There are traps, eg. if you check your site within two weeks, it's deemed to have been activated again.

The whole concept is evil. Fuck 'em. DO IT!

@the A...

You too. Get OUT! You don't need it. Return to surfing.

Very deep and disturbing, Cesar. I like it in a sort of "one toke over the line" kind of way.

Social media, like Facebook and ThinkAtheist, requires some compromises . . . which, with atheists, can be difficult. I suppose it's difficult for most folk.

People can identify with each other for a multitude of reasons. Facebook, as a social platform, is designed to take advantage of our commonalities. If you find yourself isolated on Facebook, you're doing something wrong . . . or else you're so unique, you should already be used to standing alone. In which case, what are you doing on Facebook?

"designed to take advantage of our commonalities"

more like designed to take advantage of the vanities of children

You're participating on the wrong pages, it appears. There's good discussions to be found on Facebook.

I'm sure you'd know, but no thanks. I don't do FB.

@ Strega

There is this aspect about Facebook and other digital communications mediums that I don't entirely grasp: the insatiable need to post the minutia of your life or read about the minutia of someone else's existence. Does it really matter to someone else what kind of cereal you ate for breakfast (an extreme example obviously)?

That cartoon accurately portrays my experience. When FB first got popular I joined, noticed this inanity, was turned off, but just pretty much ignored it. However I started being contacted by primary-school acquaintances, etc., most of whom I had no interest in and many of whom were deeply Christian.

The pièce de résistance came when decided to go through my settings - out of boredom and curiosity. I came across this relationship drop-down box which had defaulted to "looking". I didn't want anyone to think that I actually WAS looking (I've been in an excellent relationship for 11 years), so I changed it to "in a relationship". I was soon flooded by messages from all these people I'd recently re-met congratulating me for finding a partner, I immediately decided that this is not friendship and FB is not for me.

"Cookies taste good!" - LOL

Thanks, for the information, well I have been giving it some thought that if Facebook blocks me again for nothing , well sharing my art which is something constructive than what most of them do eg.. updating their status on what they are eating, drinking , and doing their business in the toilet after a few pints, such as described in the cartoon picture,lol. I am going to shut them down.
