CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A controversial group that says it can help gay people find "the freedom to grow into heterosexuality" is set to visit West Virginia in May to meet with pastors and other church leaders.

More proof that religion is harming people:

"They are here to walk beside people who want to leave the homosexual lifestyle," Dys said.

In 2007, a task force of the American Psychological Association reviewed scientific literature on efforts to change sexual orientation.

The task force concluded that "efforts to change sexual orientation are unlikely to be successful and involve some risk of harm," the APA states on its website.

More us vs. them mentality..."homosexuals are evil" they must be made like us.

The amount of frustration reading this article has caused is unhealthy; I need a drink and to choke a xtrian to the point of a hypoxia-induced near death experience.

I'm a guy... and i loveeee women. If someone tried to "help" me love/marry/have sex with another man it just wouldn't work, simply because I'm not gay.

So why is it so hard to understand that the other way around?

The only bad thing about homosexual people  - are the heterosexual people that don't like them.

I think it would alarm free-thinking Atheists how many disturbed gay christians actually believe that "change" is possible through relentless devotion to their god. These mind-control centers are usually overseen by christian men who have driven their own homosexuality deep into the dark while still allowing an intimacy that borders on seduction with these confused, frightened young men. Sex is a frequent outcome, followed by tremendous guilt and suffering. Suicide is tragically sometimes the end result of this "christian" approach to healing and comfort.
Would we tolerate this if it was ANYTHING besides religion? Would we do this to our troubled Daughters?

Actually for some christians killing someone who is gay in brutal attack is the only way to deal with. I am a part of the GLBT community and one area of concern for me is the struggle for the T part of the GLBT finds the church making statements that the Transgendered person should not be allowed to use for instance a Male to female using a female washroom in fear that they may sexually assault the women in the washroom. Which has no evidence of it happening. Although woman, men, and children have experienced sexual assault and abuse in many of the church institutions, leaves you to wonder which group we should fear the most?
