This video keeps popping up all over my facebook wall.....it's about the Hoyt father and son. The son is disabled but always dreamed of competing in marathons and other events. His father helps his son's dream come true by not only competing for his son but physically carrying him throughout the event. They eventually compete in the Iron Man triathlon....all this is very inspire, but what really makes me so annoyed is that the video below has this horrible christian song called "My Redeemer" is playing thoughout clips of the Hoyt Team and even manipulates the message the son is trying to express in the end! The Hoyt Team has no affiliation with any christian groups, has never endorsed or talked about any church or religion and hasn't even taken donations from churches or religious organizations! Basically christians just stole it! This family is doing something that has nothing to do with god. They are showing the love humans have for eachother and that our nature is to endure any hardships. Am I making sense?
I had to mute it in order to finish the video.
@ Doug - exactly!!
@ Jillian I actually watched the video before I read your post and was so pissed off. After reading your post, I was even more pissed off. Why don't we make a counter video, with the approval of the family and throw it up everywhere. The music can be just as inspiring and the message even more so. It would be about the love and commitment between a father and son. It would be about doing things for each other, not to appease or with the help of some god. It really makes me want to puke when I hear the religious highjacked this story.
@Daniel-I live in Ohio (very close to Bum Fuck as a matter of fact) !!!! And yeah....people have really distanced themselves after finding out I'm an atheist.
@Robert-Totally agree. I think there are some on youtube without the lame ass music that I think the family made themselves.
A
hahahahahah That's definitely one the traits I saw once people found out I'm an atheist. They're so fickle. Literally one day they're friendly and the next they treat you like crap. It's not just Ohio though. i was in the Air Force for four years and this happened there too. Moving to Ohio though has been annoying to say the least though. The sheer amount of narrow minded people always surprises me. And they say that disbelief/critical thinking has nothing to do with the level of education. I wouldn't mind Christians as much if they were actually true to their tenants instead of being mean, childish, petty, racist, hateful, and ignorant knowing they can just ask for forgiveness from "god".
