Most of us who have deconverted have knowledge of some of the horrible laws the bible has. Many of us have probably encountered at least one believer who was completely oblivious to those additional obscure laws. Or if they are vaguely aware of them will dismiss them as being from the old testament. Someone has created a questionnaire on that tests to see if your morals are biblically aligned.

The Bible's Moral Laws Should be Locked Away Forever
"It is often said that morality comes from the bible, or that it contains parables about morality that should guide us today. But do you really understand the moral precepts of this Bronze Age book? Have you read the bible cover to cover and actually thought about the contents?

If not, it might be time to open the bible and look. To help motivate you, I've prepared this quiz so that you can see if your morals are in line with those in the bible. Enjoy!"

Take the test here! I am proud to say that my result came back "Your morality is 0% in line with that of the bible." Do you rate the same? Do you know any believers you could get to take the test? If so, how do their results come out?

Hehe I got 0% too. It was pretty obvious which answers would get you which results, though.

Thanks, that was fun!

In a God Delusion debate, the notion of morals came up and Dawkins made a very good point.

He said that most people are aware that the Bible contains some pretty awful things and that nobody in todays society would contemplate relying on them for moral teaching.

There are also some very good parts that you would.

But the point is, in order to distinguise between the good parts of the bible and the bad parts of the bible, you are using moral reasoning.

But because you are using a moral guide to select good from bad in the bible, it clearly follows that your morals are external, and the bible did not define those morals.

All you are doing is applying your inate sense of right and wrong to the bible and not the otherway around.

Good Man Richard.
