Comment by Kenneth Montville D.D. on April 30, 2011 at 5:44pm Of course the bible predicts the fall of Jerusalem, a majority of it was written well after 60 CE. Even the stuff written before that date wasn't written too much earlier. 1 Thessalonians (the earliest work in the Bible) was written in 53 CE, a mere 7 years earlier. The Romans had Jerusalem surrounded for 2 years (I think), and the campaign through Syria, Galilee and Judea provinces were years in the making. This is the price of your army moving at a top speed of about 4mph.
If a JW wants to talk about prophesies why not turn it around to the fact that they are batting 0 for 9 on end day predictions.
Thanks Kenneth - Yes I am working along those lines. I’ve been thinking about my approach and have decided that it might be better to show where The Watchtowers own prophecies are wrong, as opposed to the biblical ones. I am with debating their local expert (ringleader) so it might be a better idea. Of course the best option would be to ignore them but sometimes the challenge can be fun.
Comment by Kenneth Montville D.D. on April 30, 2011 at 10:35pm I love the challenges. It is always fun and it is a good exercise in critical thinking. Here's a list of end time predictions which includes the Jehovah's Witnesses claims starting in the 1800s with the rise of Millerism but starts with the first recorded Christian end time prediction in 44 CE.
