I was in line to buy a Starbucks tea and treat at lunch today when I noticed a young man with nice tattoo sleeves. Upon closer examination, I clearly saw Darwin's picture--a very nicely done black and white portrait--on one upper arm. I said, "Nice Darwin!," to which he replied, "you are one of only two people to ever call it out correctly straight away."
I wouldn't actually mind such a tattoo. While I don't revere him as a founder of atheism, as some detractors suggest, I think he was a great scientist and a man of integrity, honesty and balls. He wasn't the first to think of the basics of evolution, but he had the guts and tenacity to publish and keep on in the face of sever opposition.
