Dark and unordinary films II: now with animation!

In my first list I was avoiding films labeled as horrors, but this time I will put such films only because I consider that they have a deeper meaning. Some of this films only have some dark scenes but are not overall dark. And also I consider existential horror to be very dark.

waiting for godot 2001

Ikiru (to live) 1952
eraserhead 1977, the grandmother 1970, the elephant man 1980
Mary and Max 2009 and anything else from Adam Elliot (clay-animated films!)
perfect blue 1997 (inspired the next film)
black swan 2010, also some other films by Aronofsky like Pi 1998 and Requiem for a dream 2000
Vidocq 2001
Blueberry, l'experience secrete 2004
suicide circle 2002
audition 1999
El espíritu de la colmena(spirit of the beehive) 1973 (inspired the next two films)
El espinazo del diablo (the devil's backbone) 2001, El Laberinto del Fauno (pan's labyrinth) 2006
brother's grimm 2005
dark star 1974 (probably the only comedy here)
Carne 1991, Seul Contre Tous (I stand alone) 1998 (this two go together)
Antichrist 2009, and soon Melancholy from Trier
Departures 2008
Det sjunde inseglet (the seventh seal) 1957, Persona 1966, Viskningar och rop (cries and whispers) 1973 and probably every other Bergman film
71 Fragmente... 1994 and most of Michael Haneke films like: Le Temps du Loup (Time of the wolf) 2003
Nosferatu 1979, Woyzeck 1979, My son, my son, what have ye done 2009, Grizzly man 2005 (I know it's a documentary, but still...) and some other Herzog films
There will be blood 2007

animated shorts (lot of this you can find on youtube or else):
Intolerance trilogy (2001) and everything else from Phil Mulloy
Franz Kafka – Ein Landarzt 2007
Billy's Ballon 1998, Rejected 2000, Meaning of life 2005, Everything will be ok 2006 and everything else from Don Hertzfeldt
Fallen Art 2004
Hotel E 1992 and most everything else from Priit Parn (but it's hard to find), hotel E is a parody on communism, it will make more sense if I say that, and the crucial moment starts at 9min and 10sec for people who don't have patience ;)
Nekojiru-so (Cat soup) 2001
Hedgehog in the fog 1975 and everything else from Yuri Norstein
Andrew Svislotsky 1991 and other things by Igor Kovalyov

Another great list... I know a lot of them but many are yet to be discovered. Hope they are on Netflix.

For a long time I wanted to share this short animations because they are not well known. In my city there is a great animation festival called Animafest, so it's a good source of dark animated shorts.
