I've watched a lot of films and I've noticed that there are sometimes film that you just can't put your finger on them, all you can say is that they are dark in atmosphere, unordinary, unhollywoodlike...

No particular order:

Tenshi no Tamago (Angel's egg) 1985
La Cité des enfants perdus (City of lost children) 1995
Tideland 2005
Paperhouse 1988
The fall 2006
The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover 1989
Taxidermia 2006
Salo or 120 days of sodom 1975
Caligula 1979
Dancer in the dark 2000
Drunken Angel 1948
Le proces 1962
Sonatine 1993
It's all about love 2003
Aguirre der zorn gottes (Aguirre the wrath of god) 1972
Der siebente Kontinent (The Seventh Continent) 1989
Gerry 2002
Happiness 1998
Såsom i en spegel (Through a glass darkly) 1961

Have you ever seen Institute Benjamenta, or This Dream that One Calls Human Life (1995)?

I really adore that film.

I also like:

Woman in the Dunes (Suna no onna) (1964)

Antichrist (2009)

The Pillow Book (1996)

Invitation au voyage (1982)

Blue (1993)

Dumplings (Gaau ji) (2004)

Death in the Seine (1991) - actually a film short by Greenaway

Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975)

Wings of Desire (1987)

The Reflecting Skin (1990)

Dead Man (1995)

Departures (2008)

Raise the Red Lantern (1991)

The Enigma of Kasper Hauser - Jeder für sich und Gott gegen alle(1975)

Oh... I could go on...

Alright I surrender. I'm a barbarian.

Thanks for some good suggestions, especially Anne :D
I tried to put only one film from every director so, that's why I didn't put Antichrist and so on, while I don't consider Der Himmel über Berlin (Wings of desire) to be a dark film, I wanted to put it into the list, but I didn't.
@Bist, I didn't know there is a sequel to Donnie Darko, nice :D
@Kenyon, I've watched Angel-A, and honestly I forgot about it, actually I forgot about a lot of other films, I'm considering a second list ;D

I love the movie Pi...and almost anything else Darren Aronofsky has done. I've heard of a lot of these and wanted to look into them more, so thanks folks! I will be getting these movies tonight haha I'm always looking for a good movie to watch. Has anyone seen the movie "Gummo" ?

didn't watch gummo, but it looks very interasting.

Also I forgot to put Waiting for Godot 2001, I know it's based on the theatre drama, but this version is very dark and nihilistic.
