Common sense ideas to make our lives better

Have been compiling the list of ideas to make the world a better place. Here are some of them

Result oriented education give people freedom to learn what they want, double down on teaching how to create start ups, finance start up incubators. Currently education is for 4 or more years and many kids graduate college with a lot debt, colleges sell degrees for which they are no jobs in real world. Degrees with no chance of getting a job should come with a disclaimer notice. Make the universities compete on the cost for the college so that costs of the college do not keep spiraling out of control. Government or non profit should create a website that aggregates the cost of the education for degree, number of students who got jobs for that degree from different colleges so students can make smarter decisions when picking their degree.
Separation church and state have a society that includes all differ...
Protect and enhance women's rights in US and all over the world. Women should have right to choose, right to get birth control. US and UN should work and fight for women's right all over world li....
Legalize the market for Organ Donation. Millions of people all over the world pass away all over the world due to natural causes we need better rules and regulations so people can help each other out and millions of lives of lives can be saved.
We need excellent technology education, technology drives the economy and creates great jobs. We need to invest in STEM(math and science) education.
We need to invest in Space Travel. We need to establish a moon base, get to mars, colonize mars, mine asteroids etc. Space provides one of the toughest problems to solve when we solve we create so many other jobs, companies, fields of education and innovations which will change our lives in so many positive ways.
Weapons control, we need a world free of nuclear weapons. Billions are spent on nuclear weapons.Trillions are spent on military budgets this money can be spent on more worthy causes. We spend trillions of dollars in wars which did not produce any result.
Provide health insurance for people. Decouple health care coverage from jobs so many people are stuck in the jobs for their health insurance. Use new technologies and ideas to reduce cost in health care. Invest on preventive care technologies like doctor hot spot which will reduce ER room visits for highly vulnerable population. Look at the per unit cost of the health care to reduce the astronom..., we need to estimate the unit cost of the health care system and eliminate the wasteful additional billing in the system. Maintaining checklist reducing the errors in the health care system. Compassion driven health care can really change the people lives.
Stand up for Human Rights all over the world irrespective of countries and borders.
Reduce prison population. Prisons have become for profit institutions companies make money for keeping people in prison, why doing we are creating millions of people stuck in a cycle of poverty and crime. We also need to reduce prison sentences for non violent offenders.
Smarter way to combat drug problem.Should we legalize drugs?
Should we legalize prostitution?
Combat and end Human trafficking.
Fight cyber mafia.
Stopping bullying. Bullying is wrong its makes peoples lives miserable it needs to be stopped.
Make government more responsive to the people.
Real time change to the fed monetary policies.
Invest in growth instead of debt.
Common sense immigration reform immigrants do not steal jobs bigotr...
Cost management government offices build the same software again and again causing the tax payers money to go waste put it in the software in github so various government agencies and people can reuse the government software.
The government actions should be with long term perspective but not short term
Invest in infrastructure. People should use more public transportation so the dependency on the oil can be reduced.People should be able to sell the electricity back to the grid from solar power.
Get along well with other countries in world including India, China, Brazil, Russia etc do not use the no outsourcing thing to become more isolated
People should have right to die and families should be allowed to make better end of life decisions.
Protect the environment reverse global warming.
Use analytic's and constantly use them to drive down the costs, make better decisions we should make decisions based on what data tells us not based on pre existing suppositions.
Protect people from predatory lending let people. How can people who cannot make a bill payoffs the pay day loans.
Stop drone killings of people without a trial. Close Guantanamo bay give criminals their due court trail.
Government accounting and auditing. Use technology to reduce government corruption.
Equal rights and respect for everyone all over the world.
Adopt the common sense economic reforms

Comment by Unseen on September 23, 2012 at 10:28pm: You'd probably stimulate more discussion by breaking that up into a number of smaller discussions put up one at a time. I think a lot of people, myself included, look at a huge post and decide they don't want to get into it.

-How to you imagine combining cutting military budgets and standing up for human rights? A liberal interventionism doctrine does require the use of military force quite often.

-Getting along well with other countries isn't necessarily desirable or up to the US. Recall that the international system is anarchic and Machiavellian in nature.

-Why equal rights for women and lgbt only? Why not just make it simple and insist on equal (or better yet, similar) rights for everybody, irrespective of gender or sexual orientation?

-How do you propose global warming is to be reduced and the environment protected? While lofty goals are pretty to listen to, specifics is actually what gets done.

-Same as the above goes for bullying.

-Long term government perspective is not really possible due to the election cycle. Are you proposing a lengthening of terms or an abandonment of representative democracy altogether?

Comment by Lewal on September 24, 2012 at 10:02am: Probably goes along with humanity, but I think we should be monitoring population growth a little more. We need to find a solid middle ground on abortion and start allowing people who want to die with dignity to do so. I'd also suggest measures to start holding people accountable for the number of children they're producing, but I know that's not gonna fly any time soon.

Everybody has their "If I ruled the world." The thing is it's all pipe dreams. As Dr. House said, "If Religious People Listened To Reason There Would Be No Religion!" Likewise, if people listened to reason, we wouldn't have any problems.

Your first job, then, is to make most people reasonable about things they are currently irrational about.
