Race
And who are we racing
Why must my skin
Be a part of your friendship application
My slate is clean
But to some that seems
Not good enough at all
*
What color does the bullet hunt
What color does the rain look for
What color eyes do tears prefer
When death comes does it hang out on a certain shade of town
Who are we racing in this race
Is there a first and last place
Why can’t I just be me as I am
Why must my skin matter in this land
Is there really a winner, I think not
We all lose when colors define our spot
*
I know some people that are so worried about the outside
But isn’t inside where the good and bad fly
I’m so tired of hearing that what we see externally
Is good enough to place us where we are and should be
Even as a little child I knew
That color was just a decoration
The truth about how someone is lies in action and words
Colors may look good and may look bad
In life the people that make us sad
Are not all one shade
They are the bad decisions and words various types of people play
*
Twister
They use the colors to twist ‘ya
Twister
They use the colors to confuse ‘ya and it works
