Cole’s Law: In any given political discussion, if religion is mentioned, the probability of the discussion shifting to a flame war about religion and the Founding Fathers approaches one.

Corollary: The less someone involved in said flame war knows about the religious beliefs of the various Founding Fathers, the more they will insist on the Fathers holding some specific view. (Usually connected to their own)
