Religious Extremist So Crazy He Doesn't Even Know His Own Kind
Not breaking news, I know; but since I can't find any other posts about Bonestroo, thought I'd share.
Derik Bonestroo was the ski lift operator who fatally shot the general manager of the Eldora ski area in Colorado on December 30th. He entered one of the ski area buildings, fired his gun, and said "If you're not Christian, you're going to die."
When he confronted the general manager, Brian Mahon, Bonestroo asked his religion. Mahon replied "Catholic" and Bonestroo shot him twice.
The story can be found multiple places, I used this site as a source.
Is He Unique? What About Those Less Extreme?

I had a brief discussion with my mom a few days ago (she was raised Seventh-Day-Adventist (SDA), but no longer attends church regularly, and considers herself 'just a Christian'). She did not know that all christian religions have roots and origins in the catholic church. When I first implied it she protested, but once I explained a little further she conceded that it made sense.
She contemplated this for a few minutes, then told me most SDA people wouldn't believe me. Most SDA view catholics, mormons, and jehovah's witness as the 'big-three-bad.' This reminded me of the fact that SDA (and many other religions) often know little-to-nothing of
other religions. They think their flavor is right, everyone else has the wrong flavor; and they see no reason to taste the other for fear of corruption.
This got me thinking some more. How often have you encountered religious people who are clueless about the origins of their flavor? I'm not counting the people who deny the fact that the bible has dozens of copy-cat mythologies stolen from other cultures and religions. I'm talking about the people who don't know all modern christianity draws origins from catholism, and catholism draws origins from judaism.
There are a few time lines or religious trees out there; this one is pretty good:
