I have noticed since kicking down the closet door about my dis belief in any god, that there are not many black Atheist around in the United States.I have met a few on twitter but that's it. Which is cool I don't care about that. I just think its because more blacks have been grandfathered into jesus or scared to break the family tradition. What do you think? I know for a fact it's got to be a lot more black people that don't believe in god, but why wont they come out and join the real world?

I think African American Atheists are uncommon because they are already afraid of prejudice, and stating that they do not believe in a mainstream Idea would make even more susceptible to prejudice.

Hey Michelle, i think there are more black atheists than you think, think about how long you secretly questioned(if you did in secret) what you had been taught. I think there are more blacks who know that religion is bs but just dont want to make waves in their community. Sad really because its just another example of how much we care about what others think.

And I'm a PK! Grew up literally in a church! Oh the stories I could tell!

But seriously, I understand what you're saying.
