In Switzerland, a legislative initiative was initiated which wants to prohibit the building of minarets. The Swiss will vote on it on november. The initiative is supported by the conservative right party SVP, while the most other parties and associations (e.g. the swiss free thinkers) are against it.

I personally think it's the wrong way to forbid religious buildings. It's one more interference from the state.

And I'm more bothered by the churches, which chime every half hour -- the whole night long.

I think its an awful move by the Swiss. As free thinkers, we should want churches and mosques empty because of the veracity of our arguments, not because we use the machinery of the state in the same vile way theists attempt to.
