*Takes a deep...really deep breath in* Alright where shall i begin, I'll start my saying I get easily angered by stupidity, & try my hardest to refrain from correcting people. Alright then couple days ago I was on facebook & came cross a video a "friend" posted about 2012 it was a catchy electric song real techno but it had subtitle text stating that in 2012 humans DNA will change because the radiation bullshit this bullshit that, I wrote "it's a cute song but the science is wrong" she replied "maybe to you". MAYBE TO ME?!

Umm how about to the entire science community!!

What I completely don't understand is how stupid people yes i'm going there STUPID people believe in 2012 the whole geomagnetic reversal (which does occur takes thousands of years tho), Run-away planets & galactic alignment (which occur EVERY year) how they believe in this shit with out any prove of scientific information that the 2012 are saying & most of this shit has some truth but is distorted so much it's laughable, yet people think something will happen, yet when presented with evidence for the Big Bang & carbon dating for Earths true age, & for most of all Evolution people reject that, WHAT THE F*CK!

My mind can not process that..

That kind of "maybe to you" gets under my skin as well, as if the results gained through the scientific method hold equal weight with any random uneducated opinion.  People can get like that with evolution as well.  They say things like, "You have your beliefs, and I have mine."  Sorry, that's not how it works.

Agreed. And with the all the possibilities from seismic activity to solar flares, polar reversal and devastating meteor strikes, the doomsdayers will claim any scientifically explainable event and assign it to god. Go figure.

It seems to me that all arguments that are not based on the scientific evidence are “stupid”.  Many people who base their beliefs on faith appear “stupid” to anyone who bases their belief on evidence.  I know college professors who follow the Catholic faith and believe that molestation by the priests was only isolated problems.  Are they “stupid”?   The catholic professors are wrong because they refuse to follow the evidence.  Well they have their PHD.

I have no PHD and only believe what the evidence shows.  Unlike Will Rodgers I don’t “know” what the newspapers tell me, I believe what is the consensus of the scientists who work in the various fields and base their findings on the evidence.  Is this faith?  Maybe, but it is faith that the objective evidence that we can know is true.    Like those who refuse to believe that global warming is a problem, the believers in end times in 2012 simply refuse to confront the evidence.

having an education doesn't always mean one is intelligent, for example Bush went to Harvard yet, well you know the rest..
