Creationist stakes $10,000 on contest between Bible and evolution

Creator of Literal Genesis Trial believes people who argue in favor of evolution are at a scientific disadvantage

A California creationist is offering a $10,000 challenge to anyone who can prove in front of a judge that science contradicts the literal interpretation of the book of Genesis.

Dr Joseph Mastropaolo, who says he has set up the contest, the Literal Genesis Trial, in the hope of improving the quality of arguments between creationists and evolutionists, has pledged to put $10,000 of his own money into an escrow account before the debate. His competitor would be expected to do the same. The winner would take the $20,000 balance.

The argument would not be made in a formal court, but under an alternative dispute resolution model known as a minitrial. Mastropaolo said he would present the argument in favor of a literal interpretation of the creation story once he had found a willing scientist to argue that a non-literal interpretation of Genesis is more scientific.

"They [evolutionists] are not stupid people, they are bright, but they are bright enough to know there is no scientific evidence they can give in a minitrial," Mastropaolo said.

A minitrial differs from a regular trial because it does not need to be held in a courthouse and does not require the presence of traditional court figures. Mastropaolo plans to have a bailiff and court reporter in attendance, along with the judge. Contest rules state that evidence must be scientific, which means it is "objective, valid, reliable and calibrated".

Mastropaolo believes that evolution cannot be proved scientifically. "It turns out that there is nothing in the universe [that] is evolving, everything is devolving, everything is going in the opposite direction," he said.

I proved that God(s) can't exist and named my theory as "Fundamental Theory Of Existence". Here it is...

Fundamental Theory Of Existence.
I developed “FTOE “after reading Prof. Stephen Hawking's “A BRIEF HISTORY OF TIME ". FTOE is Fundamental Theory Of
Existence.
Fundamental Theory Of Existence.
1. Zero cannot exist as denominator.
2. Anything cannot be created out of nothingness, only change of form is possible and change is everywhere.
3. Anything cannot be destroyed into nothingness, only change of form is possible and change is everywhere.
4. Existence of anything cannot be infinite.
5. There is no beginning and an end to the existence of the World.
6. There are finite absolute laws.
7. Velocity of light is relative.
8. There are three dimensions and three dimensions only.
9.Time Travel is impossible.
10.Tan 90 cannot exist.
11. God(s) cannot exist.

Not to quibble, but not all of those premises are true. Taking just one, the speed of light is an absolute. It is not relative. Light does not slow down for anything. Nor does it speed up. It is always 299,792,458 meters per second.

You are not the first student who seems to deny the existence of infinity or at least believes that the concept does not apply to the physical world. And while I agree that infinity is not a "real" number, I do believe that 0.99999....= 1, asymptotes and limits are valid, and that your "apple" proof needs further development before you can conclude that infinity or gods do not exist and win the Nobel Peace Prize.

Demand the right to choose the judges. Make sure there is more than one judge, and make sure that he doesn't choose them, because if he chooses, it's likely to be biased.

That there are only three dimensions is certainly not the view of modern physics. Traditional physics adds the dimension of time, and today's top physicists seem to agree that the physics of the real world demands a few more than just those three or four. Eleven dimensions seems to demanded by the string theorists, for example.

Hawking and Mladinow refer to the three dimensions as the three large dimensions as opposed to the rest of the dimensions which are, well, small.  I thought it was interesting when they said we could not live in a universe that had more than three large dimensions because, among other things,  life-sustaining orbits would be impossible

Okay, ignoring the spam from Sagar Gorijala.

Problems:

1) The "contest/challenge" is neither. It is a bet since you have to put up your own money.

2) It is not between the bible and evolution - it is between the bible and the bible. The challenger does not argue in support of evolution - instead the challenger is forced to "argue that a non-literal interpretation of Genesis is more scientific" than a literal interpretation.

So, the scientist is expected to put up his/her own money to argue in support of the bible. I've seen slimy religious people before but this guy seems to be trying to set a record for slimy.
