I was thinking about all the little prayers that religious families recite throughout the day, such as: "Praise the Lord!", "god is watching", "bless you" & etc. and how they offer comfort to each other. And, I realized that my family of ardent atheists, does pretty much the same. But we don't acknowledge some deity. Our prayer, nevertheless, is uttered to comfort each other in tough times, it's uttered when we're laughing, we say it when we're scared, and most times we just say it because. It's a prayer I taught my wife's family to use, for some reason being christians they never used it(?) It's a simple little prayer, if that's what it can be called. It's: "I love you!"
I came across this for the UK Atheist who happens to live in London and is a bus driver:
The London Bus Drivers Prayer
Our bus driver which art in Hendon, Harrow Road, Wilsden Lane. Thy Kingston come. Thy Wimbledon in Erith as it is in Hendon. Give us this Bray our Berkhampstead and forgive us our Westminsters, as we forgive those that Westminster against us. Lead us not into Temple Station but deliver us from Ealing, for thine is the Kingston, the Purley and the Crawley, for Ivor and Ivor, Crouch End.
