I am an Atheist.

Ever so often, my sister gives me some gossip about how some Preacher has found himself in legal trouble.

Or how the girls that go to Church every Sunday are now pregnant.

Or how the guys that go to Church every Sunday knocked someone up.

Or anything else were a supposed Christian does something that is a moral WTF!

And the same thought comes across my mind...

"I Am An Atheist, But I Am More Christian Than They Are."

And I always get that thought whenever I encounter a rude or not so polite Christian.

And they are not rude because I am an Atheist because not many people know that I am.

I just think that it's funny that Atheists are more Christian than most Christians I know.

I wouldn't say that atheists are more Christian than most Christians are. I'd say atheists are generally more well rounded human beings than most Christians are.

If you look at the teachings of the bible, a lot of it is about hate, violence, misogynism, slavery, and so on. I get what you are saying, the Christians who are supposed to be pure and holy are the ones "sinning." But for all our sakes, let's hope they never become more Christian, because if they do, things will get a whole lot worse for everyone.

I understand what you mean. Atheism is a higher standard than Christianity because we take the responsibility for our own actions rather than expect forgiveness from a god that is not there. We have higher moral standards and ethics because we think about these subjects rather than blindly accept the teaching of self-appointed moralists. So it is not so much that we are better Christians but that Atheism or rather the philosophy of Atheism that flows from not looking at life with the god deluded goggles tends to make people more mature and considerate in their behaviour towards others. The problem is that most fundamentalist Christians only get their morals from the bible. They are not very good at doing Christianity.

I know what you mean but I have disagree due to semantics. By the definition of Christian, you can't be more or less Christian. You either are or you aren't. The reason for the confusion is the religious hijacking our language and making Christian synonymous with good morals.

If we break it down and use the words we really mean, the message becomes clear:

Atheists are more moral than most Christians I know.

I have had people keep calling for work, because they think I am an 'honest' man. This has come from people that can hold the most amazing WTF positions.

I have learned, partly the skills of 'duck and cover' conversations: size up the audience; determine value of relationship; determine word or concept list that would be forboten; map responses through that new list, deleting as you go possible conflicts; be kind and marginally agreeable; have fall back positions if forboten list is touched; be understanding, but suggest other options when possible. It helps to think faster than they can! Run like hell when it is over. Treat yourself when you succeed.

This has worked rather well with UFO believers, crazy people, and some business types.
