Apparently so, according to Tucson's most popular airline, which recently added "mechanical difficulties" to the list of acts of God and other events for which the carrier will not be liable if travel is delayed.

Southwest Airlines quietly made the change a few weeks ago, to the puzzlement of some industry analysts."

It disgusts me how people are always looking for new ways to shirk off personal responsibility. If an airline can't keep its own planes functioning, then they absolutely should be held liable. I think I'll be flying Delta from now on.

It's not an "Act of God". It's a "random occurence of nature." Hence, anything that doesn't fall under nature is not an excuse.
