A Woman's Right To Choose...Not Abuse.

I don't particularly jump up and down at the idea of abortion. However, I do embrace a woman's right to choose. With this in mind, I don't think abortion should be used as a method of birth control. I can understand a broken condom, drunken night, mishap on the pill, rape, any number of reasons to cause one to elect abortion. It is your decision, your life, your choice. But...I feel that without cause, you should not be able to have multiple abortions. Simply because you didn't bother to use protection/or whatever the reason may be. I've never really considered it a hot-button issue, personally. There should be some sort of limit on the number of abortions you can have for sheer carelessness. Multiple cases of negligent sex should not be the grounds for your 3rd, 4th, or 5th abortion. Multiple, lets call them "aborters" should be strongly urged to use birth control. It would save a bunch of hassle in the long run, and its not like these individuals would have moral scruples with birth control. This came up because my former best friend is attempting to have her fourth or fifth abortion. She tried to have "Chance" aborted, but he was a viable fetus when she went to do so...shes also had one miscarriage. I dunno how she has had time to get pregnant so many times...shes 19 years old. So, although I am pro-choice, I suppose I only extend those feelings to people who don't abort babies like its going out of style. Lol. I have no particular attachment to these fetuses, but I think that getting multiple abortions for no reason other than negligence is a bit ridiculous. These women using abortion as their preferred method of birth control make the other cases look bad right along with them...

Why is one or two abortions okay but not six or seven? I didn't quite catch the distinction.

meh with any luck one of the 7 abortions will render her sterile.....

I just don't think it should be used as a form of birth control is all.
Perhaps it is a bit of my pro-life roots somewhere deep within.
I suppose I just find it wasteful if there is no particular reason.

Its more of an annoyance, than a moral thing for me...
I don't really think is the roots after all.
Just seems like a lot of trouble to go to when there are all these other ways to prevent the reason for the abortion.

I see. I agree with you. Four or five abortions by age 19 is excessive but is it abuse? It definitely seems wasteful given that there are safer and less expensive ways to avoid pregnancy.

I just used that as a title...I don't really see it at "abuse"
Just highly unnecessary, and if I used the term loosely, it would be more akin to overuse.

I'm nitpicking, I know. ;)

I started to pick it apart after I submitted it as well. Heh.
It was on my mind, and I felt the urge to write.
This is the result. =)

Yeah yeah... write away. I understand your point, but I'm gonna attempt to poke two holes anyways.

Abortion is a legal right due to the 4th Amendment gaurenteeing the right to privacy. As such Roe v Wade would have to be substantially altered just to allow the tracking. It's not a right to abortion perse, it's a right to privacy with your physician.

My other thought is that what if you were just one of those people, or couples, whom couldn't get your Chromosomes to work together well and you have medical reasons to have multiple abortions? They shouldn't be prevented from access to terminate for say Spina Bifida or something of that ilk.

I think that your friend needs some counseling. No father or low self-esteem and raw dog no withdrawal is a way to keep men around? I hope that she figures it out soon because I agree, the behavior isn't good.
