I love watching my kid grow. She's learning more and more each day and her imagination just amazes me. She has recently been wanting to learn about Earth and other planets. We look up at the stars at night and I try to explain how far away each star really is. I've also bought several science-themed booked for her and she loves them!

As she's been learning about about the Universe, she has began to create her own version of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star." She now sings:

Twinkle twinkle little star
How I know what you are
Up above the world so far awayyyyyy (she gets dramatic at the far away part)
Like a diamond in the sky!
Twinkle twinkle little star
How I know what you are!!

....I guess she no longer wonders what the stars are made of :) I've tried to catch her on camera but to no avail.

I'm so glad my kid loves science!

Seeing children grow is amazing, from womb to breast to tantrums and hugs they never cease to amaze me. Watching as they learn to socialise with siblings makes me weep and laugh often within the same minute ! Seeing them light up when you tell them about the wonders of the universe around makes you as excited and it does them. What I find most amazing of all is watching and hearing them develop language. Most of the time it happens so organically that it is barely noticed but when you think about language and how we gain it then it becomes utterly amazing. My wife and oldest son are both profoundly deaf (post - lingually and pre - lingually respectively) so in many ways I have had a grandstand view of language development in our four kids and I never cease to be in awe of how the human mind does it.
