That's really strange because when I was a kid I had a theory that we lived on God's head and were basically a very bad parasitic infection.  I thought of this only in relation to humans, as a life form that had gone out of control and was destroying its host.  In a sense I still think it is true.  I do think of the Earth and the cosmos as the "creator" in that life as we know it so far arose here from available materials.  I don't think we can destroy the host, but we may make it uninhabitable.

Purely in terms of logic, that doesn't work. A virus is a "life form" that infects other life forms to replicate itself. The earth is not a life form therefore it cannot be "infected" by DNA.
It's also worth asking the question: So what if it is? What difference does that make to anything except for the lower atmosphere and upper surface of a tiny blue speck in a vast and empty universe?
Don't want the above to come across as dismissive either. See it as a challenge to your supposition.... :)
