A recent MSN convo with a friend
This just frustrated me so much
he says :I love when I admit that I need help to kickstart my life
and 99.9% of people are likely to respond
by saying "you can't always wait for others to help you"
wonderful and shit
I replied: get your ass in gear is that better?
him:Forget I brought it up
me: i'm just wondering what you expect people to say
him: dead conversation topic now
have a good night i don't feel like talking anymore
I'm confused. What was it he expected me to say to that? I'm not a psychiatrist or a counselor of some sort. What did he honestly expect me to say? And then to just be an ass and that's it, he's done talking for the night? He is such a bitch sometimes

Unfortunately, some people think friendship means telling them what they want to hear. I don't think that's being a good friend . . . or, at least, not one who cares. A true friend will say what they really believe, PARTICULARLY if they believe the friend NEEDS to hear it. Of course, finding a tactful way to deliver such opinions is always preferable to bald statements that might seem crass, flippant, hostile or judgmental. There might be emotions involved that you're not necessarily tuned into.
