I have over the last few years steadily lost respect for William Lane Craig as an apologist. His voice grates on my ears more and more. His willingness to accept genocide as acceptable because his god commanded it is pathetic and I have shook my head in bewilderment at the acceptance such statements get from his herd of followers. So when I saw this video I said to myself “Don’t do it man, you will only get annoyed”. Of course “Do not press that button” never worked for me so I did. Can you guess how I feel about him now?

The man is a twit. He is now to be called William Lame Craig. He has no concept of what Atheism is and he certainly has no concept of what Hitchens was about. I revoke any credit I ever gave him and he can shove his KCA along with the rest of his moronic apologetics. Hitchens once said of Jerry Falwell “If you gave him an enema you could bury him in a matchbox”. I think it is better suited to the lame one.

secular prayers? what a genius. I recall seeing a debate where hitch handed him his own ass in his own church.

I was thinking, "That wasn't so bad" until I realized this was the venerable William Lane Craig sounding just like any other religious doofus on the radio (I listen to a fair amount of Christian talk radio—don't ask). In other words, his elaborate apologetics have pointed him to a worldview just as shallow, silly, and thoughtless as every other Christian's. Interesting.

I just can't even watch the video.  He's been spewing the exact same fallacies, packaged as the KCA, for over 30 years now.  I have no idea what draws creatards to him but, whatever it is, apparently I'm allergic.

"But Christianity, although it believes in the supernatural, is not superstitious in that sense."

"See I would want Chris to understand that when you define superstition it's basically an unwarranted or irrational belief in ultra-mundane or supernatural activity in various and trivial ways..."

Thanks for describing prayer, guys!

"I revoke any credit I ever gave him"

Thanks. I saw Craig defeat Hitchens. (I only saw one debate so I assume RobertPiano was speaking about the other.) Was this the source of any credit you might have given him? But even as I watched Craig hand Hitchens his ass, I never gave Craig any more credit than I do now. I only thought, "Wow, Hitch is really having a bad day". I have even secretly theorized that he had just come from the doctor's appointment where he was given the really bad news.

I trust Craig made no more entertaining banter toward the second half of the interview. I could only stomach the first half.

Thanks again, though, for the link. It was good for a couple belly laughs before the revulsion took over.

It has been mentioned previously on TA that WLC is good debater and he has even been called a master debater which seem to give him any credit he might deserve. He has made a living from debating his KCA which is somehow taken as “proof” of god by the flocks. However while it has often been dismantled (quite easily), he still refuses to admit that it has flaws. If he had any intellectual integrity he would admit it is just an argument and not a proof for his god. Therefore he is not worthy of being granted that which he would demand of others such as Dawkins and the “empty chair” incident.

“Whatever begins to exist must have a cause….lots of pseudo intellectualism….some big words that will baffle theists.….. Ergo that cause must be the Christian god”.  Very lame indeed.

Anyway folks see you here in a few weeks. Thanks Heather!

I just don't get that.

His argument goes like this:

Something had to create all of this; therefore Jesus is our savior....

Frankly, I believe that Al Sharpton in his debate with Hitch was at least honestly a man of faith.

Loud, fast, and aggressive (grating as you correctly put it) does not win debates. And well, since he and many of the zealous who enjoyed Hitch as an adversary also felt compelled to pray for him; and as always to no result; Hitch won the final round.

I would say that WLC has a good debating technique. I had not given him enough credit in the past for that. He prepares well for his debates and he can counter his opponent’s points quite skilfully. However being able to debate his opponents on their argument does not validate his own.

Similarly when creationists debate the accuracy of carbon dating or missing links they are only creating a smoke screen of controversy that only exists for them. These are not issues for the scientific community. So now matter how well they debate their opponents it does not make the Intelligent Design any more plausible. WLC is like that too. He knows how to debate Ontological arguments and understands the philosophies of it very well. As Nelson (TA) once told me – you will need to be on top of your game to win a debate against WLC. If you are not prepared he will destroy you and your argument. It would be folly to underestimate how good he actually is, irrespective of the validity of his arguments.

So that is why I gave him credit in the first place. However when I listened to the video I referenced, whatever respect I had for him on an intellectual level vanished. He may actually believe what he says but he is just an overly polished apologetic. He can dress himself and his KCA up whatever way he likes but I am done giving him or it any further consideration.

How can anyone degrade the word "debater" by using it in the same sentence as the name of that sanctimonious douchebag WLC? I hope his entire family gets cancer. His parents are fucking assholes for raising such a spawn of intellectual dishonesty. Also whoever gave him his fake diploma in the fairy-tale-sciences- I want to grate a pineapple on your face. Theology / Christian Philosophy / Theosophy...whatever the fuck you want to call it to make it sound more important; It's not a real field, sorry. You're no more educated than a common peasant Will.
