Atheism is interesting to me because I get to be an induvidual who is responsible for my own morality. I get to disagree with things that Christians just seem to accept, like monogomy, homosexuality etc. I find the real joy in being able to think about my own morality is when I can just drop all of my preconcived notions and just think, regardless of whether or not my ideas and thoughts are morally acceptable.
Take for instance, incest. I realize that for many people incest is a picture-word that makes them shutter and in their mind they shout "NO!" Well I took a look at a few variables. Take for instance, having children. If a couple who are related and yet not having children (lets say one partner has been fixed), then is the relationship wrong? I've come to the realization that as long as their relationship harms no one, then no. I may not agree with it, simply on the premise that I can't get past the idea of being involved sexually with a family member, but if you are happy then who am I to tell you your wrong just because it makes ME feel weird.
The same with homosexuality. I see nothing wrong with having a same-sex partner. Again, you're not hurting anyone. I also see nothing wrong with homosexuals raising children, adoupted or other wise. It makes me angry when people who choose to have biological children bansh the idea of homosexuals raising an adoupted child. Why? Because they where able to make their choice. They got a say on how they wanted to have children and there are so many children out there who need good homes, protection and care. And these (some religious) heterosexuals have the audacity to make their choice and try and choose for others too? It just doesn't seem right to me.
Until next time,
Keep an open mind!
