The night began as certainly many others have for Hazelton, PA.’s Emmanuel Paulino. A little bit of crystalline ecstasy — aka “Molly” — some fun and some really good times afterward. After six hits of Molly, Paulino and his girlfriend got in the mood, as those on molly are wont to do. The two settled in, doing their best not to wake the woman’s kids a few rooms down.
They didn’t sleep for long, though. While in the midst of the act, Paulino “freaked out” and began forcibly choking her. She began to scream and struggle, as much as possible. While choking her, Paulino balled up his fist and forced it into her anus up to the forearm. He lost his grip, and her near-incoherent screams of “Stop, you’re hurting me!” rang through the house.
With his fist inside of her, Paulino (in his words):
“Pulled something out. I pulled out something stick that stuck to my hand.”
As Paulino sat with a piece of their mother in his hand, the children entered the room, drawn by her screams. Paulino stopped. It’s unclear as to who called the police, but they arrived shortly afterward. They found the woman lying in a fetal position, hemorrhaging “blood and fecal matter.” They also found Paulino, who head-butted one of the officers as they attempted to arrest him.
They took Paulino’s victim to Hazelton General Hospital, where she went immediately into surgery. Her condition is, at this point, unknown — though Paulino has not been charged with murder. He has, however, been charged with several felonies including aggravated assault, aggravated indecent assault, rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault and assault on a law enforcement officer.
Doctors identified the matter stuck to his hand as a piece of the woman’s stomach.
When brought before judge James Dixon, Dixon set a bail of $250,000, stating that Paulino “may pose a danger to the community.” Paulino, dead sober at this time, retorted that he expected to be cleared of all charges because
“I have Jesus on my side.”
The children do not report Jesus being anywhere nearby.
