Could you really consider someone's IQ as a rationalisation for them deserving to die? I concede that the world would be better off without a lot of people who currently inhabit it but surely eradicating a vast number of people purely due to their beliefs and intelligence? It kind of reminds me slightly of the crusades/holocaust, surely that's not something we should even hypothetically condone.

In the bigger, (galactic, cosmic, universal?) scheme of things it just wouldn't matter.

The question is more about to what extent you value your beliefs, or more to the point, your lack of belief.

Standing up for, or in this case murdering for, in other cases dying for, your beliefs, or lack thereof, is just another form  religion; silly in concept and dangerous in practice.

Isn't it all a tad megalomaniacal to think in such a way that humanity somehow transcends the realities of our host organism?  Isn't that one of the fundamental problems with religion?

No.  Murder is wrong for any reason.  I am an atheist, not an immoral psychopath.  Atheist does not mean evil.

I think what David was trying to say was "what if every religious person vanished" not necessarily dead but not necessarily alive.  Not to change the question but what if the question were "if you could put every religious person in a "frozen" state that kept them alive that you could pull them out of at any minute would you do it?"
