Oh my fucking God, I am a piano teacher and the pianist for a church and I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE SAY THAT TO ME!!!!!!!!  

 

I really have to bite my tongue ...... literally bite it LOL.

At this point...I literally bite my tougue when someone "blesses me" when I sneeze, tells me to have a "blessed day", or my personal favorite...'they will keep me in their prayers"

DON'T PRAY FOR ME!!  Go pray for someone who has turned their life over to god!

Reminds me of the baseball player who "Thanks God" for letting him hit that home run.

 

C'mon, really - the ability to hit a leather-covered ball of string with a highly-modified two-by-four comes from years of practice combined with native talent.  I mean, baseball isn't even mentioned in the  bible.  (Unless you count the time Rebecca went to the well with a pitcher.  Oh, and that reference in Genesis - "In the big inning....")

My choir director in High School asked me to play the flute for his church and be a part of the choir there. I loved the messages the pastor had to give, and were surprisingly secular. But I was always irked when people said I was blessed with such talent. I wanted to scream that I had this gift because I spent ten years of my life perfecting it, studying with a world renowned teacher, practicing my butt off every day, and freaking out about auditions. God did not bless me, I blessed myself.

believers who give god credit for anything people do might as well give credit to a deceased great-grandfather for a child's graduation from high school
