I remember reading someone commenting on this sort of scenario. Here is one take Be careful what you wish for... 

Basically all of the most intelligent people who have lived and who are responsible for most of the scientific discoveries and innovations would not be here. Simply, the world would still be in the Iron Age or Bronze Age. Just look at the Middle East.
